Welcome, new parents!
The first few days of school can be a little crazy, and we’ve all benefitted from a little help from experienced 705 parents who showed us the ropes. So we’ve gathered some tips that we all wish we knew before we started our experience at 705.
Home/School Communication
Brooklyn Arts and Science Elementary School welcomes parents and guardians as integral parts of the school community. To communicate with families, we will be utilizing the school website, ClassDojo, paper notices sent home in student backpacks, phone, and email. Families are also encouraged to reach out to staff with any questions or concerns.

All 705 families are invited to join our Google Group, where a lot of dialogue about the school and school-related activities takes place. It is not the official communication channel for the school, but parents who are active on the list make an effort to echo school communications there. Please note that all membership requests must be approved. Current parents only, please.
ClassDojo is one of the main modes of communication at PS705. Through the app, you will receive important school updates, updates from your child’s teachers, and updates and pictures of students participating in school-wide events. To sign up, please ask your child’s teacher for your parent code and sign up at www.classdojo.com or through the mobile app.

School Supply List
Supply Lists for the 2023-2024 school year have been purchased by your PTA. You do not have to buy standard supplies like folders, paper, glue, pencils, etc. The PTA could use your support in covering these costs. Each share is about $40, but we welcome any contribution you can make. Click here: http://bit.ly/donate705
Uniforms
To create an egalitarian atmosphere, all students follow the school’s dress code. Read this blog post from a PS 705 parent on their experience with our school uniforms.
Tops: Students wear heather gray polo shirts (long-sleeve or short-sleeve) with our school logo. There are a couple of ways you can purchase the uniform top:
Tops embroidered with our school logo can be ordered online at www.cookieskids.com. On the Cookies website enter our code, BSAS (Brooklyn Arts and Science Elementary School). You may also order online at www.idealuniform.com. Enter “Brooklyn Arts & Science Elementary” at check-out for the embroidered logo. Please place orders before July 31st.
Bottoms: Khaki pants, shorts, skirts, or skorts. These can be purchased at any retailer. Tights or leggings, if worn, should be gray or beige.
The school has a UNIFORM EXCHANGE PROGRAM where gently worn school uniforms can be donated and all families are welcome to take as needed. Please see the Parent Coordinator for more information.
