New Parents Kit
Founding Principal, Dr. Sandra Soto
Welcome, new parents!
The first few days of school can be a little crazy, and we’ve all benefitted from a little help from experienced 705 parents who showed us the ropes. So we’ve gathered some tips that we all wish we knew before we started our experience at 705.
Updated School Handbook coming soon!
School Supply List
For the 2020-2021 school year, due to the COVID pandemic, please contact your child's teacher or the Parent Coordinator for more information regarding this year's classroom or remote learning supply needs.
To create an egalitarian atmosphere, all students follow the school’s dress code. Read this blog post from a PS 705 parent on their experience with our school uniforms.
Tops: Students wear heather gray polo shirts (long-sleeve or short-sleeve) with our school logo. There are a couple of ways you can purchase the uniform top:
Tops embroidered with our school logo can be ordered online at www.cookieskids.com. On the Cookies website enter our code, BSAS (Brooklyn Arts and Science Elementary School). You may also order online at www.idealuniform.com. Enter “Brooklyn Arts & Science Elementary” at check-out for the embroidered logo. Please place orders before July 31st.
Bottoms: Khaki pants, shorts, skirts, or skorts. These can be purchased at any retailer. Tights or leggings, if worn, should be gray or beige. Please no jumpers or dresses that cover the embroidered logo on polo shirts.
Shoes: Black shoes (dress or athletic). During the winter months when we are more likely to be in snow boots students can keep their shoes in their cubbies and change into them when they arrive at school. This is especially important on days when students have physical education.
The school has a UNIFORM RECYCLING PROGRAM where gently worn school uniforms can be recycled/donated. Please see the Parent Coordinator for more information.
Drop-off and Pick up
A full school day for the 2020-2021 school year begins at 8:50 AM and ends at 2:20 PM.
Here’s a guided tour showing you some of the things you need to know about drop-off, pickup and the office.
