Our Principal
Welcome remarks from our Principal:
Greetings Brooklyn Arts and Science Elementary School Family Community,
I’m extremely pleased to serve here at The Brooklyn Arts and Science Elementary School as the Principal. I’m very passionate about education, and I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality elementary school experience. I recognize the importance of building strong, trusting relationships. I have confidence that by working together, we can make sure our children’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met.
I am a product of NYCDOE’s school system. In fact, I attended both elementary and middle school in Community School District 17. I went to PS 316 (Elijah G. Stroud Elementary School) and I.S 320 formerly known as Jackie Robinson Middle School and currently referred to as Ebbets Field Middle School. It is most meaningful to me to serve this community and to pay it forward. Returning home to serve the very same community that had a hand in my success makes me feel like Lebron James going back to Cleveland for the Championship.
Before joining Brooklyn Arts and Science Elementary School, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles over the past 20 years, primarily with the NYC Department of Education. Some of the roles I have held include classroom teacher, literacy coach/staff developer, Pre-K-5 Assistant Principal and the Teacher Development Evaluation Coach for Community School District 17, where I was responsible for coaching 32 principals to enhance teacher practices. My academic background includes a Master of Science in Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, and a Certificate of Advance Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership and Administration.
I believe that schools are their best when there is meaningful collaboration between all stakeholders, ensuring that parent voice is heard and implemented into the fabric of our school. In order to do this, we will provide you with workshops that will empower you to better serve our students. We will also provide ongoing opportunities to hear your voice as we believe getting our parents more involved in our school is a necessary variable in the equation of student success.
Here at BASES, my colleagues and I work closely with our parents to guarantee that all of our scholars are intellectually challenged and have access to the social and emotional support critical to students during their formative school years.
I am humbled and appreciative for the opportunity to work for and with you in this role! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share. My door is always open. I know that you send me YOUR very best child and we will treat them as such.
